Tattersall Farm Day is Sunday

Tattersall Farm Day, a New England-style agricultural and educational¬ event will be Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

The farm is located at 542 North Broadway. Rain date is Sept. 27.

There will be wine-making, beekeeping demonstrations, wildlife exhibits, story telling, art displays, pony rides, hay rides, tethered hot air balloon rides, raffles, Audubon-led nature walks crafts and games and other activities. E.J. Ouellette & Crazy Maggy will perform fiddle, rock and jam music. Food and beverages will be available.

Admission is $5. Children under 16 are admitted free. There will be additional charges for hot air balloon, pony and hay rides. Proceeds will help convert the barn into a cultural and educational center. The event is presented by the Trustees of Tattersall Farm and the Haverhill Rotary Club, and is sponsored in part by a grant from the Haverhill Cultural Council. Vendors, artists, craftsmen, agricultural demonstrators and environmentalists/conservationists are invited to participate. 4th annual Riverfront Brewfest is Saturday

The Tap Restaurant, 100 Washington St., will hold its fourth annual Haverhill Brewery Riverfront Brewfest on Saturday.

There will be two sessions: 12:30 to 4 p.m., and 5:30 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $29 each and include a souvenir tasting glass, live music and the chance to try beer from more than 20 area breweries, in two-ounce samples. Also planned is a sneak preview of Joshua Norton Imperial Stout in the Haverhill Brewery cask cellar.

Big Jim of WFNX will be the disc jockey, and will do give-a ways at the first session. Tickets are available by calling the restaurant at 978-374-1117 or at www.riverfrontbrewfest.com by clicking on the link to the brewfest.

Trails & Sails begins this weekend

Essex Heritage and its partners will present the eighth annual Trails & Sails walks and water events this weekend and the weekend of Sept. 25 to 27.

An expanded list of adventures is being offered throughout Essex County, with a focus on coastal treasures. To reduce the group's carbon footprint, the 2009 Trails & Sails guide will be offered electronically. Events include hikes, sails, paddles, tours and other adventures. Trails & Sails to include free ghost hunts

The Essex County Ghost Project and Pelham Paranormal Research will hold two free ghost hunts as part of the eighth annual Trails & Sails.

The first is Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Hilldale Cemetery. The second is Sept. 26 at the Pentucket Burial Ground on Water Street. Reservations are not required. Participants may bring cameras or recording devices.

"Hilldale Cemetery is an ideal place for people to go if they are interested in exploring a truly haunted location that hasn't been over-visited," said Fiona Broome, a local author, historian and paranormal researcher who does much of her research in Haverhill.

Trails & Sails Italian Heritage Tour in Sunday

The annual Bella Buildings Italian Heritage Tour in Haverhill, part of this year's Trails & Sails, is Sunday at 1 p.m.

The walk begins at the Sons of Italy, 116-130 Washington St. Local historian Thomas Spitalere will lead the 90-minute tour. More information is available by calling 978-289-8271.

Fundraiser to help cystic fibrosis fight is Saturday

The Friends of Tracey will hold a fund raiser dance this Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 24 Summer St.

The event will include appetizers, music by a disc jockey, dancing, a cash bar and a silent auction featuring lift tickets to Pat's Peak and Cranmore Mountain in New Hampshire and Wachusett Mountain in Massachusetts; family passes to Storyland in Glen, N.H., Santa's Village in Jefferson, N.H., York's Wild Animal Kingdom Zoo in York, Maine, Davis' Farmland in Sterling, Mass., and the Museum of Science in Boston; as well as passes to local movie theaters; 18 holes of golf, including carts for four at Beverly Golf and Tennis; and gift certificates to Haverhill restaurants and salons.

Proceeds will go to assist Haverhill native Tracey Ruth-Kloster and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Tickets are $20 each. More information is available from Amy Hayes at 603-878-2531 or 603-315-2970.
