PELHAM — A Jericho Road man was being held on $50,000 cash bail for holding a gun to his girlfriend's head and threatening to kill her, police said.

Ronald Martell, 27, was arraigned yesterday afternoon in Salem District Court on charges of reckless conduct, criminal threatening, and simple assault after a domestic dispute at his home Monday night, according to Pelham police.

Police received a 911 call from the woman at 8:39 p.m., saying Martell threatened to kill her.

Police responded to the home, where Sgt. Anne Perriello and Officer David DeRoche were able to get the woman out of the house. She told police Martell was extremely intoxicated and in a bedroom with the gun. The woman also said her two children were still in the house.

Police dispatcher Jon Goldman called the house and advised Martell to go to the front door, where Perriello and DeRoche were waiting to arrest him.

"They got him out and then went in to get the children," Lt. Gary Fisher said, noting that Martell was arrested quickly and without incident. No one was injured.

Detective Sgt. T.J. O'Donnell and Detective James Johnson checked to make sure the two children were safe, and the gun was found in the bedroom.

The reckless conduct and criminal threatening charges are felonies while the simple assault charge is a misdemeanor, Fisher said.
